As a son of farm working parents who often worked 10-12 hours a day I understand that many parents don’t have the luxury of taking time off from work to be involved with their children’s education 100% of the time. That is why meaningful opportunities for parents to engage must be at the forefront of our district. As a community organizer by day, I practice meaningful community outreach everyday. I will use engagement strategies to increase parent services and engagement opportunities across our schools that will positively benefit our students’ education and retention.
I firmly believe that by using best practices similar to those that are already being used by other school districts we can increase our parent engagement five-fold. What we need are leaders who are ready to make this a priority.
